Hello all,

I bought a 1983, 75 HP Johnson Sea Horse last spring. It's on a Lund 16' Mr. Pike.

Model No. J75TLCTE
Serial No. J5831756

I've been reading these threads on and off for months and haven't come across anyone that has this engine...yet.

Is this an odd-ball? Do I have the only one in the world?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Re: 1983, 75 HP Johnson Sea Horse

Hi Ron,
The 70 & 75hp 3-cylinders were quite popular - still are, too! I have a 1980 75hp on one of my boats. The 70 is probably more common of the two, though. As such, most posts related to the 3-cyl. deal with the 70s. They're very nearly identical, so any issues with one would relate to the other as well... They're also similar across a range of years, so issues that might relate to a 1980 or 1981 model would most likely relate to yours as well. If you have a specific problem, broaden your search a bit...

Chinewalker,

Thanks for your thorough reply. That is exactly what I was looking for right now. Over the winter I plan to do all of the PM plus a complete tune-up and go through all of the various adjustments. Previous owner didn't do much, but fortunately he only owned it for 2 years, after a very dutiful original owner.

I was thinking that it had to be similar to the 70 HP so I'm glad to have it confirmed, and also glad to know that the nearby years are similar.

Thanks again for the help.

Ron
