1983 75hp Johnson doesn't charge battery

got a 1083 75hp Johnson that doesn't charge the battery. the tach works. would it still be a bad rectifier?

Could it be, yes. and other things such as stator coils failing etc

Assuming that's your wiring diagram, think I would sandpaper the ring connectors at the terminal block, particularly the red and the yellow (yellow/grey and bridge seems to be OK on yours if the tach works).

would stator coils failing result in loss of power...she will only reach 2300rpms.

guess so (that's GUESS so...) Wouldn't be the charging coils, so tach and battery charging wouldn't necessarily be a clue. Are the stator coils visibly damaged? burned wiring or any melting? Would probably look at other issues first, if mine. Maybe propping issue or weight distribution, water under the flooring (water logged foam). Check compression. 2300 and smooth is different from 2300 and missing, of course.
