I just purchased this boat, a 1983 bayliner capri with the understanding that the block was cracked. I verified this and am now at the point of removing it. I have everything disconnected including the bell housing bolts. Is it removable without pulling the out drive assembly or does it need to come off?. I was asking someone that is supposedly familiar with these but I wanted a second opinion. He said it must be removed because of the shaft from the out drive to the flywheel connection, you cannot slide the engine forward. I disconnected the motor mounts completely so there's every reason to believe that it can go forward. I am a seasoned auto mechanic but for boats this is a first. If the out drive does need to be removed any information is greatly appreciated on the sequence as well as the do's and don'ts. Thanks again for your time. rookie1
