1983 Johnson 150Hp GT V6 Trim & Tilt

I have just purchased a boat today the motor has been sitting up for about two or three years and the power trim will not let the motor go down it will not click or anything, but when you press the up button it whines because it's as high as it will raise it. How can I fix this?

switch the trim solenoids on the motor to see if it lets you trim down. If so, you have a bad solenoid. Start with that.

go to selinoid box clean and check everything .it usually a connection
do you have relays or selinoid you can swap your up wire to the down wire and if it doesnt go down may be motor
