Ah! It ran fine last summer -- how often we hear that each Spring!!

Most likely it just needs the carbs cleaned. No big deal. If there was fuel in the tank from last year, that needs to go too.

throw down 30 dollars, get a manual, such as the ones from iboats.com , and have at it.

thats how i started out!

you only need a few tools, like a screwdriver and maybe some needle nose pliers.

very simple.

you can do it yourself for less than 10 dollars and inless than an hour, or you could pay somebody else upwards of 200 dollars !

you chose

I agree. Those are very simple carbs to get on & off. easy to clean. However, they are simply crossflow carbs. Same as an outboard. I understand why some dealers wont get involved with a Sea Drive with the NLA of some parts but cleaning the carbs has nothing to do with that.

YET

get the book and you will be.

are you really trying to say that you are so NON-MECHANICAL, you cant use a screwdriver, a 7/16" wrench and maybe some pliers?

Re: 1983 omc sea drive

Try a web search for "mobile marine mechanics" or look in the larger newspapers. I'm sure there is SOMEONE willing to work on that thing as you are not comfortable giving it a try. Should you change your mind these guys are the best and have walked through many like you who are not "mechanical". It will be basically their brains directing your hands so your brain can sit back and relax. :)
