Great Progress!!! I'd HIGHLY recommend a Hooded Tyvek Suit!!! That dust is nasty stuff. I hope you have a really good mask as well and your goggles are sealing well. PPE IS very important during the grinding phase. A fan with a AC filter taped to the back works well if you keep it cleaned of regularly. Looks like you are making good progress. Grinding is the hardest part it seems. Keep up the good work and you'll be putting her back together in no time.

I have the PPE. I have to use the XL suit and the hood kept moving around and interfering with being able to see. The dust doesn't bother my skin so I ended up leaving the hood down and the suit protected me otherwise. The humidity was so high I was sweating bullets which is why there are gobs of the dust that collected near the edge of the mask and goggles.

Going today to get another suit and a new flap wheel then tomorrow before work I think I can finish the grinding in one session. I have the fiberglass supplies ordered but they probably won't get here until next week as they are coming ground. Gives me plenty of time to get everything cleaned so the fiberglass will hold properly.

I plan to set the cap back on the boat once the grinding is done so it will be easier to keep the shape right and work on polishing the boat. The paint is pretty dull from sitting in the weather but I hope it will wax back to looking decent.

Keep thinking I am forgetting something though :/

Got the rest of the grinding done. Still waiting on the fiberglass supplies so all I can do now is clean and clean and clean some more to get ready. I can go this weekend and buy the plywood for the deck and transom so I can at least build the new transom this weekend, then its a holding pattern until my shipment comes in.

Got the boat all washed out and the needed grinding is done. Going today to buy the plywood and the fiberglass materials are due on Tuesday. Never got a really clear response to a question. The bow and sides have this sprayed on floatation foam that from what little I have removed to make a clean area for the new fiberglass to stick, this material does not appear to have been waterlogged like the foam that was under the deck was. I am a bit concerned about removing this as I don't know how I would replace it so the upright/level flotation that the boat was designed for in case of swamping wouldn't be affected.

Do you think this should all be removed and the bow filled with pour in foam and nothing on the sides or how should I go about this? To me it seems if I put pour in foam in place of this sprayed on in the bow if the boat got swamped it would make the bow float higher and stern to sink to basic flotation instead of the upright/level

If you're sure the existing floatation in the sides is dry and it's not in the way then I'd just leave it. If you determine you need to remove it, maybe it'd be easier to replace it with rigid closed cell foam.

Not a whole lot of progress this week with my new work schedule. But I did get the wood I need and got the transom cut out, it needs some sanding yet but I am happy with the glue job and how it roughed out. I only have one day this weekend due to family obligations but I hope to get the stringers cut and shaped so I can waterproof all the wood and get it ready to be put in. The fiberglass materials came a couple of days ago so it should be a busy weekend of putting the floor system back in.

With my schedule being almost the opposite of my wife's it is almost impossible to make progress but we did make the bow padding last weekend.

So far this weekend we have gotten the stringers all cut and will be able to set them in place by tomorrow and maybe even the floor this weekend. With stuff cut I can put them in alone. Pretty pleased with how our first attempt at making seats came out. The transom is also glued in place so when I tab in the stringers I can get it tabbed too. I am pretty sure I can have the floor in place and waterproofed by next weekend, haven't decided on a covering for the floor yet. If all goes well this week then next weekend we can put the cap back on and finally start cleaning the hull to try and get at least some shine back to it. My biggest hang-up now is actually a legal issue trying to get the boat registered ...... I hate DMV

Got the stringers peanut buttered in this morning. Now I will let that dry and then I can cut and install the tabbing. I know everyone complains about the grinding but I would much rather grind than play with the peanut butter. SO glad that part is done!!

The bow seating looks good. Moving right along even with the oposite work schedules looks like to me. Keep up the good work and you'll be back on the water in no time.

Almost a 4 week delay rebuilding my boat budget SO far this week we have actually made a lot of progress. We finished installing the stringers and getting them tabbed in so they are 100% covered with fiberglass - no water will get at them now. Then we put the plywood for the deck in, got that peanut buttered so there is a smooth transition for the fiberglass that will go on top of the plywood . Then we drilled holes in that plywood we worked so hard on and poured the floatation foam. That was really cool to watch the foam start coming out the next hole This morning we cut the fiberglass to size so this weekend when we have time we can put it in place.

The floor looks good and solid, and will stay nice and dry once you finish glassing it in.:thumb:

We got the fiberglass finished and it is a beautiful day, the primer dried really fast so with two coats in place its time to paint the floor with the non-skid paint

I know most of the time people spend a lot longer getting the boat ready to put back together, but it still seems like it has been a long time

Still have to pop rivet the top back on and attach the rub rail before working on the seats and so on, but at least the top is sitting in place again

Anyone have an idea what would have been mounted where the red circle is? There is a identical area on the starboard side, fading indicates the 4 holes held down a single plate of some kind. The holes are about the size of a pop rivet or small screw

Thank you Woodonglass, the spacing looks right, there was nothing there when I got the boat.

We got the pop rivets all in place for the rub rail. My wife was a genius when it came time to reinstall the rubber in the rail, I couldn't believe it would be possible to push it through all the way around the boat much less easy to do, spray a little pam cooking spray on it and it will slide right through
