This one has me perplexed.
Last year I installed a rebuilt head and the engine ran great. The Trim & Tilt motor failed and I yanked the boat out of the water for the season.
I repaired the tilt motor and just re-installed it. Everything works. But when I started the motor it ran at very high revs. I checked the throttle linkage and it was fine. I checked the timing advance and it seemed to be working fine. In fact I could manually push the timing towards hot-run spec and the engine slowed a little until it began to misfire (but still ran a lot higher rev than idle).
The engine starts and runs like it is at 3/4 throttle yet I verified the throttle linkage and carb conenctions are at idle position.
I checked the primer to see if it was injecting gasoline into the carbs after the engine started (pulled off tube--nothing coming out).
Any ideas? I am lost as to what could have changed sitting in a heated garage over the winter?
thanks in advance for any trouble shooting tips.
