Just picked up an excellent condiition and running 150hp Yamaha International Engine. I bought all new rigging, controls, wiring, gauges etc. I have searched but can't find what one of the harness connectors is for in the engine. It is round harness with flat wiring. It right next to the 10pin. The color codes are green, green/red and yellow/red. This engine is going on 2001 Angler 201 center console project boat. Any help on what this harness is for?

What is an international Yamaha engine? Most all of them come from Japan.

What is the complete ID of the motor? Up until 1993 the trim and oil harness connectors were round. They they transitioned to square. There are adapters available if and when an older motor is installed on a boat with newer gauges.

I have heard it called international since it is not a true US engine but it is a Japanese engine. The model is 150AETO 6G4L400148. I figured out the trim and oil harnesses but there is one plug/connector I'm having a difficult time with.

You have been listening to folks that don't know what they are talking about. Comes with the inner web.

A 150AETO was not sold here in the USA but its equivalent model was. A 150TLR for instance.

That serial looks to be a 2002 model year motor. Well after Yamaha changed connectors. Which specific connector might you be talking about?

It is 3 wire harness right next to the 10 pin harness. Color code is grn, grn/red and ylw/red. It is tied into the emergency switch for the the oil tank. What is even more strange is the 4-wire harness for the onboat oil reserve tank is spliced into as well. Unfortunalely, I can't attach the picture of the harness on this post :-(

Ok, I now agree that it appears to be a circa 1984 - 1986 model year motor.

The connector is for connection to a harness that leads to an oil status gauge. With green, yellow, lights. Green for OK, yellow for caution, red for warning.
