That cylinder is runing intermittent..... definitely.
I think you have an ignition issue, thats why fuel flooding down the leg.
That cylinder is fireing sometimes, sometimes not.

ok, so Lets lean tward an ignition problem. How do I check the switch box? At one point I swapped coils and the problem still was in top cylinder. so that would tell me the switch box is bad, but before I drop 350 bucks on one id like to test the current one. Thanks

Swapping the coils just tells you that the coils are good. The CD box should have a red and (I think) orange wire. IF you move the wires so the affected one is now on the bottom coil and if the problem now switches to the bottom cylinder, then the problem is either the CD box or the trigger.

And 350 is too much for a CD box They should be much less either used on ebay or new at CDI.com

if i just switch the cd wires then the timings off and it wont even start. heres a couple vids of it running..

first one is the top cylinder running on its own with the bottom cylinder grounded out..

sounds really rough and barly running.

this next one is running on the bottom cylinder with the top grounded out.

alot smoother and sounds better.

not sure what this test tells me but i do know the top cylinder is acting up...im just going to order a new cd box and try that.. fouind one for $225

225 is a bit much unless it's new.
Before you buy, do some tests.
Outboard ignition . com and CDI ignition both have test procedues for that motor.
Also, the connectors, replace them.Put in male female connectors.
I had a trigger go bad.Sometimes it tested good and sometimes not.
Turns out it was a bad connection under the shrinkwrap.

So I tested the ohms between the blue and yellow wire like it says on cdi.com. Should have 300 ohms. I get nothing. Even tryed before any connectors. Does this mean its bad? And if it was totally out it should even run right? Am I testing wrong?

The test between the 2 sets of green and orange is 50 ohms. Just like they should be.

Re: 1984 60hp chrysler/ one cylinder not running

Well what a coincidence, I bought this boat from craigslist testing it on a no wake lake, and told everything was fine with it, but as you can see I just happened to find a post with the same exact problem as me, and then I looked at the videos/pics and was like hey, thats the same exact boat, same decals, same number, same tags... and the same dog of the person who I just bought it from! Thats my boat!

I guess thats how it goes huh? I am now trying to fix this same problem as all the above posts on the same boat. We actually got it to open up one time going 25-28 mph for about 10 mins but then couldn't get it to do it again. I also go thru 12 gallons of gas in about 2-3 hours of riding in this boat.
So does this still sound like a CD box? Please any help would be great!

Defiant, Like I said on the phone, I thought I had the problem squared away. I guess not. I tested the cd box and after talking with boats . net I dont think the electronics are bad. I believed it was a fuel problem so thats why I installed the carb kits. It really cleaned up on the muffs so i thought the problem was solved. guess not.

I do have the new diaphragm that was on back order. I can send that or if u want to pick it up you can try that. If it doesnt work I have no problems giving you a refund on the boat. My intentions wasnt to rip some one off....its was a low cost fishing boat.

Re: 1984 60hp chrysler/ one cylinder not running

I posted that before I talked to you on phone, not trying to start pointing fingers just want to get a working boat as was said. It is still a good deal either way, and appreciate you offering to take it back if needed, but hopefully that won't be the case.
I posted on here to hopefully get a few more ideas/suggestions as to what it might be, especially if that diaphram doesn't work.
So the CD boxes are good, Just want to know so I can bypass trying to check that if its not needed.
And I am confused with the pressure ball for the gas being half pressurized while the motor is going, and why it goes through sooo much gas, or is that normal? I dunno much about boats, my 1st one really so its all new.
I had a buddy go through some of the timing and we ended up getting the boat to do this in the following video, but was short lived after we throttled down.
