Let me start with what happened, i was out on my pontoon boat when it all of a sudden fell out of forward gear. So i put into neutral and tried reverse it went into reverse just fine tried forward gear again and no luck. So i pulled the lower unit and discovered the shift slide had the head broke off i checked all other parts bearings, clutch dog, forward gear all looked good. So i ordered the shiftslide and a lowerunit gasket kit and put everything back together. I reinstalled the lower unit and everything went fine started the motor checked both forward and reverse had both .So i started out onto the water for a test drive and everything was fine for the first thirty minutes and the same dang thing happened, so i get towed back in . I pull the lower unit again and decide to take it apart on the tailgate of my truck and low and behold the head of the shift slide is broke again and im looking at the shifter that the cam sits in and the end that the shift slide head sits in is real shiny and kinda jagged .Im just looking for any opinions from someone who has worked on yamahas and has seen this problem and what to look for . Because as of right now im thinking the shifter is what sheared the head off the shift slide other than that im lost so any and all help would be appreciated.
