Hi guys, I am picking up this motor this weekend and I believe I am more dependable mixing oil and gas for the motor than the motor itself, so I want to disconnect the oil injection system. What's the best way to do it? Oh yeah, what is the mix ratio for this motor? Thanks.

v.r.o. disconnect: 1) remove oil line from inlet fitting at motor pan. cap/plug off the oil line from the oil tank. cap off the barb fitting at motor.
2)diconnect the wires that run between the oil tank and motor. one is a grownd, the other wire connects to a brown wire with a protective sleave.
3)chk. to see if the v.r.o. pump has wires comming out of it. the v.r.o on 1984 motors did not have a warning circit, but if it was updated it will have a 3 or 4 wire connector at the end of a 3 inch pig tail. unplug the connector if your motor has the 3or4 wire connector. done!
mix at 50:1,or one pint oil to 6 gal. gas.

Quick question first. Is the VRO still currently connected ??

i suggest you also replace fuel lines with alcohol resistant lines.

Yeah. Its still connected. I'll be changing fuel lines too. I'm trading for my 40 hp mercury with a man who has the evinrude on a pontoon. Says its way too much motor for his trolling. Meeting at a lake halfway between the two of us. Doing a long water test on both motors before the trade. I'm a little leary that he wants to trade even up. Although my motor is in really, really good shape cosmetically and mechanically. 160 in both cylinders and new everything. He said he just had his serviced and it checked out fine. I'm ringing my handy dandy compression tester as well.

Well, didn't take the trade. Compression was 90, 60, 65, and 72. No good. They guy drove 2 hours one way for me to tell him no deal. I guess he should have just told me about it from the beginning. I guess he deserved to waste $60 in gas for trying to pull a fast one.

Wise decision you made.
