I hooked a spark tester up with setting at 7/16 gap. Hooked up timing light, all this on #1 plug wire. Spark plugs are removed. Throttle is at wide open.
Timer base is against rubber stop. Put muffs on. Turn motor over and couldnt find marks. Took timing light directly across from pointer, turn motor over and what do ya know there are timing marks. Does that mean motor is timed 180 degrees out? and if so what is best way to fix?
thanks for the help its much appreciated

Sorry please delete post. To my ignorance i double chaecked everything i did. And i was hooked up to cylinder #3 plug wire. Dont I feel like an ***.
Sorry again.

Re: 1984 90hp timing issue

Perhaps I'm missing something..... The timing of the engine is determined by the alignment of the flywheel key slot with the woodruf key in the crankshaft. It would be impossible for the engine to be 180? out of time.

I assume that the number 1 cylinder you speak of is the top starboard cylinder?
