I replaced my PDS bearing without pulling the motor. I fabbed up a collar with allen set screws in the side, made a short allen wrench to tighen the collar up in place and then put the slide hammer on the bolt I had coming thru the collar. I also went through the horror of the "youll have to pull your engine" obligatory answer a few years back on this very form. Its like they have a rubber stamp.
I used a section of iron pipe just the right diameter to place the seal, but PVC sure sounds easier to work with. The retaining rings were a bit of a challenge. It was like arthroscopic surgery...overall it sure beat pulling the motor.
