I am running Gas/Oil mix on my 84 Evinrude. I have the oil intake plugged.
The low oil horn is driving me nuts. How do I disconnect it.
It is the Beep every 1/2 second not constant. I was told to disconnect the wiring harness from the VRO but there is not one.
Can you help.

A beep every half second is the VRO warning. Look closely at the portion of the VRO where the oil line connects. There should be 3 or 4 wires leading out of the VRO at that area. Trace those wires back to their rubber plug connector and disconnect it.

I have hunted several times there are no wires coming out of the VRO.
I have a parts manual and it shows no wires from the VRO.
I will be more than happy to post some pics.

The original VRO, manufactured in 1984 had no warning system (wires). All later models had the warning system. Hard to believe that your engine still has the original 1984 VRO installed.

The strange part is that it is only the VRO warning sensor that would emit the every other second warning beep.

Per a wiring diagram in a old Selock Book I have it says one of the wires going into the connector goes to a no oil switch. This I cannot find. It says a tan wire. The only tan wire I find goes into each cylinder head and to ground.

You did have an oil tank.

It did have a ground wire and another wire that ran to the warning circuit.

If the tank was removed, the wires that connected at the engine were incorrectly connected to each other, which guarantees that you will keep getting an alarm until you find them and disconnect them. At least one of the wires will be black.

I just got this boat about 2 months ago. No Motor. No Oil Tank.
I got the motor about 4 months ago. There is no empty connector for a oil tank to connect to. If this motor had a oil tank the wires would have to have been spliced in somewhere.

The VRO is an oil mixing system. It at some point had a oil tank and the engine wiring for it on the engine came within the engine harness.

Guess I will have to take it to a Shop and see if they can figure it out.
Cause I cannot find anything that would relate to any wiring for the VRO or Oil Tank.
Thanks for the Help.
