1984 evinrude

I have a 1984 evinrude 150 on an 18 foot hydro sport bass boat. I have had several different people tell me different numbers on top rpm's.......anywhere from 4700 to 5500....which is correct ? I have been running about 4900 most of the time with no problems. Also hard to start but after it starts it runs great....has to be chocked a lot.

It should be propped to turn at least 5500 at wide open throttle.<br /><br />Use this starting procedure.<br /><br />1. Pump up primer bulb.<br /><br />2. Turn key to ON, NOT START.<br /><br />3. Push key in and count to eight.<br /><br />4. Release key.<br /><br />5. Turn key to start.<br /><br />6. You may have to "bump" the key a few times as it's warming up.
