Hi guys, are the Sea Horse motors VRO or do you have to premix oil/gas in the tank?

Noob here, just bought a first boat and it came with this motor.

Thanks. :)

I think 85 was first year for VRO on the 3 cylinder models,---------Where is the fuel pump mounted ?------What does fuel pump look like, is it a big , black plastic unit ?-------You need to be 100% sure on what you have here.----Perhaps a newer powerhead is installed.----Posting pictures helps.------Check with you local repair shop.

Will definitely get pictures under the cover, I haven't picked it up yet but have a couple of pictures of the actual motor.

Very nice paint job.-----I would do / witness a compression test on it before spending the money.-Better yet is a lake test.----Might not be easy to do a lake test seeing where the motor was built.-----Where are you located ?

lol... thanks. Was owned by an old man, he said he retouched the paint on it a couple of years back (he's going blind so definitely not the best at it).

Current weather -10C and snowing... might not get it tested until probably end of April but might be able to do an indoor test with a bin... just don't want to risk any water freezing at this time, the motor had oil change, new coils and plugs replaced at end of season last year.

Personally after you do a compression test I would eliminate the oil tank if you find one and premix yourself.I trust ME mixing 2 cycle oil with my gas.I dont trust anything other than me.Charlie

According to the model number (J70TLCRD) it is not a VRO engine and requires pre-mix in the tank.

I'm about 2 hrs. east of you (near Belleville) and saw your other post. If I can help, PM me.

That's awesome thanks!

I was looking out your way for boats for sale... ended up with this one from the Peterborough area.
