1984 Mercruiser 2.5l 120hp

Hello all, I am new to boating and want some good advice. I am seriously interested in buying a 1984 18' baretta bowrider with the mercruiser 2.5. I'm not sure if this is a good boat or motor. I do not know the reputation of the baretta or the mercruiser 2.5l 120hp. The boat seems to look like it has been taken care of, at least from the pictures. The guy said that the outdrive was rebuilt 2 years ago. I do not know what consist of a rebuilt outdrive. He said that the motor has always been winterized. What should I look for when looking at this boat? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello welcome to Iboats and boating. The 120 mercruiser 2.5 GM engine is just about bullet proof as long as it was properly taken care of. This motor is excellent on fuel .

Berretta boats were okay as long as everything looks good go for it. If you have a friend that boats and is knowledgeable take them with you to look it over. You could ask the owner if you could take it to a local marina to do a once over before you buy it.
