Hi guys, First post here. Today I pulled the lower unit and changed out the impeller. I went to try and start the motor from remote. I couldn't push in the throttle only button. I shifted to forward and it shifted REALLY hard. I tried to work it back and forth a couple of times, when i could feel something give. It started shifting much easier and the throttle only button would push in. However when I started it up the propeller was engaged. I have no neutral or reverse. The throttle only button pushes in but doesn't seem to do anything.
I then took the cowling off and notices that the shift cable had come undone (I assume when it would shift easier) I hooked it back up and now it shifts REALLY hard again and the throttle only button on't work again.
This is the first time I've tried starting it since last fall. So I don't know if changing the impeller and the hard shifting are related or just a coincidence. The boat was stored outside all winter (It was covered but still outside) I guess I'm looking for any advice. 1) why isn't the throttle only button pushing in? Why is it shifting so hard? Could it be the shift cable and if it is would that affect the throttle only button? Any help appreciated.
