HI There:

Recently my lower unit on my OMC 400/800 stern drive seized up.

Opened everything up and the bearings are all shot.

NOw I am only finding a few websites who sell the bearings. It's 5 bearings and I can't find it cheaper than $150.

I am on a bit of a budget especially with this money pit of a boat.

The markings off the old bearings are worn off.

My uncle works in a machine shop and can order bearings but without the label or demensions he can't do much.

Is there anyway to get these bearing any other way than a marine parts reseller?

What do you guys reccommend?

Thanks in advance

Those parts are pricey at best.Try to find a whole unit.Sometimes =E-bay
You will need to have the bearings installed unless you have the instalation tools.Shimming is recomended.Jerry

theres a guy near me in freehold nj sells cheap parts.hes on ebay.he might sell you the whole outdrive for a 150 bucks.my question to u is whats everything else looks like if the bearings are shot.keep a eagle eye on the oil in all 3.these drives have water intrusion problems when they get older.tilt housing hows that look.good luck.
