1984 Seahorse 70, What to do to bring it out of Hibernation?

Hey guys,
Just aquired an 84 Johnson 70 with T&T, hasn't been run normally in quite a few years, but has very few hours by the look, and had 125psi on all three cylinders cold.

Hooked the muffs up and mixed up some fresh gas to check her out...
She fired right up, but wouldn't stay running unless we kept pumping the primer bulb. Is this the fuel pump? Also, some oil had accumulated outside and below the prop, and the trim and tilt hums like it wants to work but won't quite raise the motor. (moves just very little)

I'm guessing the trim and tilt hydraulics need some fluid, a lot drained out when I loosened the set screw on the side of the cylinder to replace the o-ring that was torn by the P.O.

I'm going to order a rebuild kit for the carbs, rebuild the fuel pump, replace the water pump, and grab some new prop shaft seals. Also gonna replace the fluid in the hydraulics and the lower end.

What else do I need to do to freshen her up for daily use in the spring and how hard is it to replace the seals on the prop shaft? (Assuming that's what I need to replace?)

Thanks in advance, love this place!
Will

Definately sounds like you need to rebuild the fuel pump. Classic symptoms.

Top the TNT oil up by removing the large slotted screw at the top of the resevoir, topping up, cycling 5 to 6 times back to the fully trimmed out position, top up again, cycle, etc... until you can no longer fill it.

Prop shaft seal is not a big deal at all, IF that is what is needed. Check you gearcase oil, if it is milky white when you change the oil, be sure to put new gaskets on the drain and vent screw, as this is the #1 spot for water intrusion, run it for half an hour, then check again by quickly cracking the drain screw. The water will sit at the botttom of the gearcase, so will exit first when drained. If the prop shaft seal is compromised, we can address that. I will post a link about the oil on the gearcase below.

Good luck.

new water pump impeller, fresh gear case oil and check gear case seals (pressure test), clean/rebuild carbs, replace all fuel lines under cowl and out and bulb and connectors. test spark, should have blue streak with a 7/16 gap (use a spark gap tester). If you have a DVA meter test power pack and stator and regulator/rectifier. new t-stat. use about %30 extra oil on first tank full of fuel. the prop shaft seals are a bit difficult to change but usually need it on older motors. you will need to remove the bearing carrier that holds the seals, I have heard of a seal puller that you can do it with out pulling the carrier..not sure how good that works. there are also seals/gaskets around the drive shaft and shift rod. I think there may be a seal kit out there somewhere..
