hi, i have a 1984 sears gamefisher 7.5 model #217 5867532. i think the reed valves are bad. does anybody know where i can get some replacement reed valves or if they're made for another model that will fit onto my 7.5 model

What makes you think the reeds are bad?

it will start up and shut right off. and gas builds up in the lower unit. and the only way it can get down there is by coming back through the reed valve and going down the shaft

If you had a bad lower crank seal it could get down there.
If you had bad reeds it would spit out the carb.
If gas came back through the reeds it would be in the intake manifold and carb throat.
Do you smell gas in the gearecase?
