Thanks. The door had too many imperfections in the surface. It looked good from far, but up close it was so so. It got taped off, sanded and redone. Not bad, but time consuming. Still not perfect but better. I've heard the varnish I have is a tough one to get right, so this could be part of the issue. I need to blame sonething other than myself, :D

Need to finalize oil changes, trams fluid, a few cooling hoses, top off coolant, and the running gear is set. Swim platform needs the plugs cut, and the real varnished at least a coat. Then the edges caulked and that's ready. Canvas goes up tonight, and a bunch more cleaning and wood goes back on. The cabins being neglected until she's floating. Carpet, finish the head/holdins tank, and other cosmetic things will get done at the slip.

Splash may be pushed off until after the weekend. Working late into the night, but it still is taking more time than we wanted.

mustang we are always more critical of our own work. the work u have done is nothing less than spectacular!:D.
i had round 2 with the canvas tonight. i really love that job,,,, my sides even hurt and not from laughing:facepalm:.
sounds like a bunch of small jobs left, however those are the ones that seem to take the most time, best of luck and may the wind be at your back
. are you the one working on the engine and cooling lines?

i agree with BSnB whole heartedly everything is more fun in the slip:D.

Lil buggy, the boat is a bit of a joint venture with my father, and he is doing a lot of the bilge work. When needed I am down there doing the work as well, but in order to get her done, I'm focusing on the looks half, with him focusing on the mechanical half. I would live to have my hands on all of it, but times just too tight.

I agree, between cars and boats, I spend a good amount of time with him.

We did not get the canvas up. It was supposed to be nice out into the weekend, but the forcast changed and we decided to leave the tarp on until Saturday. More to cover the aft deck, but being that it extends over the flybridge, the canvas couldn't go on.

I'm looking forward to having the canvas up. I can then finish the teak install up there, the side bolsters, get the seats in, and polish up the fiberglass.

Got her in a position to be splashed. Enclosures up on the bridge, seats and real are all done, bridge was cleaned. Cockpit was mostly cleaned, and got the cockpit carpet template cut out. Other than a couple of hoses the engines are ready to go. The marina should have the boat in the water at 3:30-4:00 today! I'm heading there after work and will try and get some pictures. Of course it's now going to rain from tonight until Friday!!!! WTF! Always seems to be the way it goes.

Just got a photo from my father, the boats in the water. Need to get home, grab a few items and head down there. I will try and grab some pictures, but nice to see it floating.

That there door there sir looks fantastic!! Congrats on getting her in the water, your interior is going to be beautiful with all the work you have done to her. Plus all the finishes of the wood work inside should last forever being that it won't see any sunlight.:)

Seems everyone is getting there boats in, i need to hurry up, since the last splash was a little pre-mature.:p

Thank you, and I think I went overkill on the interior wood. 8+ coats of varnish in a cabin that will never get direct sun should last forever.

Got her in the water tonight. Still more work, but very nice to relax and have a cocktail while rocking back and forth.

mustang,
simply amazing!:D. a few things tho,,,,,, how in the world did you get the bottom paint and the pinstripe so,,,, dead on,,, that is simply fantastic. i havent seen a better pin stripe on the water line.
and,,,, when did you do the wood inlays on the swim platform?,,,, it really sets it off,,, and sets the table nicely for the rest of the woodwork that you have done.

great job and a huge congrats on the splash today. cocktails,,, brother you deserve a summer of them:D.
cheers, and, may the wind be at your back.
