Also scaveneged from the Pembroke, were two deck hatches. These were going to be taken apart and used for galley flooring.

After they were planed down.

You weren't kidding, motivated to say the least! Great job on everything!

What product did you use on the seats, I can't believe how good they came out!! Also, what did you mean by bar coating? I usually don't like laminate teak, but the doors and table top looks super! Like the layout of that interior also. Nice boat. :)

Gorgeous work. I love seeing someone improve an "oldie, but goodie" with labor. Anyone can just go buy new parts, but refurbishing takes talent and the love shows through. Looking forward to seeing more!

Re: 1984 Silverton 34C Remodel/Update/Upgrade PIC HEAVY

Thanks.

The coating is called Crystal Clear glaze coat. I got it from a friend after he did his bar top. The table had a teak look plastic laminate, so varnish wouldn't work. This coating sticks to nearly everything. I wanted to redo the table but think it looks good for the time being.

The laminate teak is nice as it is a wood laminate, not plastic. It would stain or oil like regular solid teak. They sell in all kinds of woods, and I may pick up some mahogany soon to do some more work.

Amazing work, Mustang! That teak laminate appears to be exactly what I'm looking for to redo the table I recently did and probably to upgrade the forward bulkhead.

I found that bar top coating at Ace Hardware. I used it in another application and will likely use it on some of my Chris Craft interior. For a horizontal surface, it flows on nicely and provides a glossy and durable surface.

Thanks BSnB. I look forward to seeing your teak work.

Chris Craft, I didn't see your question till now. The seats I used VHT dye. They were cleaned, prepped, adhesion promoter and then dyed.

So is it a laminate or a wood veneer?

The table top is laminate, the veneer I used us wood. Sorry for the confusion, but it's a flexible wood veneer

Thanks, as far as doing this again, I actually enjoy the work. Money keeps me from doing everything I want to do, but in due time it will all get done.

Re: 1984 Silverton 34C Remodel/Update/Upgrade PIC HEAVY

Today was around 50 degrees, but we had to cut the work day short due to a meeting at our boat club.

The day was dedicated to cleaning the aft and center bilges. We bought some degreaser and went to it. After a couple of scrubs in each area they began to look alright. The plan to is to clean the aft bilges up, and try and clean, prep and paint the engine bilge area.

I brought the wood grate I finished down to the boat and stuck it in the head.

Knowing the teak in the cockpit has been done and should look new, I was staring at the nasty, grey, worn flybridge steps. I pulled the trigger on taking them home and redoing the steps, while polishing the metal.

Steps came off, even though I didn't think they would. I thought the teak actually wrapped around the metal supports, but upon prying a bit, they came apart.

I began to sand and got two steps maybe 50% sanded. I then focuses on polishing the metal. I purchased Buff Magic to try out on the Fiberglass, and also on the rails and metal poles.

That grate looks fantastic, especially sitting next to those fine doors you did. Awesome, just awesome!;)

Thanks. I remember back when you were doing your teak work, inspiring!

I still have a bit to do in the head, but it's getting close. I hope to button that area up in the next few weeks.

Your wood finishing skill is amazing. Makes me want to re-do the wood I finished in a hurry on my boat last year. Just shows you can't take shortcuts with stuff like that.

Nice nice job!

Re: 1984 Silverton 34C Remodel/Update/Upgrade PIC HEAVY

Thanks BSnB, but to fit it into my schedule, you would be tableless for a couple of... years. LOL

I actually took some varnished pieces last night, and attempted to wet sand and buff them, as I read it can be done. The products I have did not work. Maybe it was due to the fact I am hand polishing? The area was sanded down nice and smooth with 1500, and then I tried a few products I had on hand. None were able to buff the scratches back to a glossy smooth finish. If I find a way that works, I will probably attack a few items this way. for the time being, I will just let the woodwork look how it looks.
