Have a 1984 90 HP VRO.
Just rebuilt the powerhead, disabled the VRO and am running premix. Oil inlet is plugged, alarm line (Tan wire) from the VRO pump is disconnected.
Engine runs great, except it has an intermittent electrical "glitch"... it is running along fine, maybe 5 seconds, maybe 2 minutes, but it keeps repeating where the engine just goes dead for a split second... doesn't matter what RPM. Have cleaned all the harness connectors and used dielectric grease to seal them from water, checked all grounds etc and still the same thing.
When I first put it back together, I had no spark... doublechecked all wiring grounds etc, no problems, tried it again and it fired... Now it fires up everytime, but has the intermittent...
Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks,
Dave

Re: 1984 VRO 90 electrical glitch

Disconnect the main harness plug (large red connector) and try it again. Obviuosly your key switch will not work so you'll have to jump the starter or solenoid and prime manually. You'll have to flood it to kill.

If the problem is cured, the key switch is suspect and/or the wiring from the motor forward. If the problem persists, its from the cannon plug back.

Good luck!

Taken care of...
Kill switch and controls were full of condensation and it seems the kill switch would break down every so often...
Dried and cleaned everything and the intermittent is gone!

Thanks!
