Just tried starting motor after several years of rest. Started fine, but does not run at low idle. Also appears water pump does not work. Any help would be appreciated.

I have not worked on this motor much in the past. How do I get to the impeller in the motor?

Number one: buy a Clymer Force repair manual, or borrow one from the library if you live in a larger city.

Carb rebuild is fairly simple, cleaning and replacing gaskets.
Impeller involves removing the lower unit, opening up the water pump, and replacing the impeller. All very easy to do, IF you have a manual.

Wadebuggs: you dont mention how you tried or started that Force 15hp ... so I cant tell if my post will be meaningfull to you or not.

I own a 1997 Force 15hp ... and this motor cannot be started with the water muffs at the water intake. Water will not circulate. (and you ll cause damage)

Only way to know if the water pump works or not is to have the lower unit submerge in water .... I use my plastic waste bucket.

Cheers
