Hi, I have a 1985 25hp Johnson outboard that just recently developed a problem. For awhile it was just a bit of spitting and sputtering here and there na dthen it moved up to when the boat was at around 3/4 to full throttle it would just quit. Now it is at the point that when I tried to take off the last time out it died before it even got on plane. The only way to get it to start after it dies is either wait awhile or take out the plugs and crank it a few times.
This sounds like it is flooding, right? I did rebuild the carb last year and it looked clean as a whistle inside and I blew out all passages ect.. It runs fine on the hose. I have also decarbed it with deep creek. Is there anything else I could check besides the carb that would make it flood or do you think the problem is in the carb? Thanks,
Rich
