1985 40hp evinrude

does this motor have points?it is firing on both plugs but does not seem to be real good fire.the man ibought it from said it idled good but when full speed seemed to be running on 1 cylinder.the foot oil is also milky looking if it is the foot seal leaking how hard is it to replace.i got the boat and motor at a good deal knowing some repairs where needing thanks for any help.


ps-where is the cheapest place to get a repair manuel for this motor?

Re: manual, try ebay and craigslist, others on this forum have specific e dealers. Most reliable is outboardmotors.com. They have all the factory manuals and reprints of same. Not the cheapest, but guaranteed good product and excellent service. Don't waste your money on Clymer or Seloc unless you only plan on changing spark plugs.
