if they weren't neo then the tank would have corrosion under those strips.

I glued the strips to the bottom of my floor. So then I did not want the glue to mess up with my tank.
Rest the tank on the strips.

Thanks kcassels! I didn’t get to the tank today but the transom glasswork is done! In total, there are two layers of tabbing and 3 full wraps over lapping the tabbing and each other. All in 1708. I did get the tank set in there but didn’t start measuring or sortingbhow to support the berth floor to reinstall it. There isn’t much clearance to use a cleat. Tomorrow that will my focus to figure it out. I’ll get pics for you guys to get some input about it. Thanks for all the Help guys! Big step out of the way to day with the transom complete! My phone won’t seam to let me upload the pics of it. I’ll post some later.

Thanks guys! I’ve got the tank test fitted and will post some pics. Need some thoughts on securing it and supporting the berth floor that I cut out to remove it. I might have room for 1/4” cleat on either side. These cleats would also serve to wedge the tank In a bit tighter too.
The tank was not secured in any way previously other than a few globs of resin that were used like glue I guess. It’s basically pinned in on all sides but would like to secure it better. I’ll get pics posted later to show what I’m talking about.

So I used neoprene to secures the sides like wedges so no movement and ran some 1x1's over top with neo on the underside to lock it down. Tied those to the adjacent stringers. So then I have deck support too.

That’s a great idea kcassels... I think I might have 1/2”-9/16” clearance on top. I have some 9/16” thick x 3” wide pvc trim pieces that might work and they wouldn’t rot even though if I have water that high there’s bigger trouble! ... is pvc ok in direct contact with the tank? It is coated in several coats of POR-15 too

probably as long as there is no movement. I tried to dig out a pick. I'll check tonight while at work.

THanks for those! I might have enough clearance for a strip of neo and that’s about it. The berth floor essentially rests on the tank. I plan to PB all around the cut and tab the seam, then overlay the entire area with a layer of CSM. Here’s pics..any other thoughts on how to support the deck? In the pics, the cut sections are just laying on top of the tank and almost line up as is... 020F16B8-27A0-46D5-91D3-8D2C853391D4 by Ciera 2450, on Flickr 2A4C0F84-CFB6-4F1B-B31F-EEC32D22AF75 by Ciera 2450, on Flickr 85A70F04-9CCB-4C65-9D95-48802674A030 by Ciera 2450, on Flickr F844C0DB-AE2A-4959-9DD3-7B6FD27AF79A by Ciera 2450, on Flickr Anybody know where to get this stuff or what it’s called? Looks like the floor over the tank will flex. You need to come up with somethin to support that spacing. definitely not a good area for flex.

I think I’m going to use the pvc trim to fill the small gap between the tank and the berth floor. Going to work on that later today and hopefully PB the pieces back in all around the cuts. Was going to use glue but figure PB will be just as strong and help fill the saw blade gap. I was pulling off the trim tabs and made a boo boo.... the freaking screws had zero sealant but they 5200 the actual tab. Ripped the gelcoat clean off. 3F64302F-B817-469D-B504-3A9442F3DD86 by Ciera 2450, on Flickr I plan to fair and paint the exterior of the transom only. Next off season project will be to paint the rest of the hull.

The freaking AQ 280 transom shield mounting bolt o-rings are $10 each..... are they just regular orings?

Not much to report unfortunately.. we had tornado not too far away a Sunday and now the temps have dropped. 26f Low expected tonight! That’s cold in Georgia! :joyous:

I did get my new sending unit in for the tank. Still shopping around for the transom shield mounting bolt orings.. I have a hard time with $10 each for a darn oring. I believe it’s a special oring as they compress into the chamfer on the holes in the hull to seal the bolts. Guess it is what it is if I can’t find them cheaper.
