I have a 14' 1985 Bayliner Capri that I have been upgrading over the past year...replaced the Force 50 with a Honda 50 and Honda controls, installed new gauge set, bilge pump, fish finder. The last piece is to (hopefully) install a mount for a 2 hp Honda kicker. I'd just feel a lot better taking the boat out in open waters with a backup, even if it is a small one. The shop doing the other installation work balked at the kicker idea, said there wasn't a way to do a mount. I know it won't be easy, but has anyone out there successfully done it? Other threads don't give me much confidence that it's been done.

Thanks.

If the Honda 50 is a four-stroke, you already have a lot more weight on the transom than was there originally. Your boat is also rather narrow, so I'm not surprised the shop is balking. How about a picture of the transom?

It is a 4-stroke. I think the issue was more lack of suitable mounting area with the configuration of the transom and fiberglass. I'll take a pic when I pick up the boat.
