Hi,

I am at the end of my knowledge on how to diagnose this problem. I have a 1985 Well Craft with a 1985 Black Max 150 on the back. When I bought it, It ran perfectly. I have been working on it for the past 4 months and went to take it out the other day and it had no spark. My process so far, I have checked the battery, stator, spark plugs, removed the black and yellow wires from the boxes to check if a kill switch has been grounded. Also checked for resistance between the wires on the boxes all seem to be fine, removed the wires from the rectifier, detached the main harness and jumped the engine and still no spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Post this in the Mercury OB section. Those guys are experts.

There are ohm readings for coils and stators. You might measure them.

Thank you for the advice I just moved the post. I have checked the resistance on the wires from the stator and they all seem to be good.

A Mod moved your post, you can't. Duplicate deleted.

What about the ground on the coils? Is it nice and clean? Any wires rubbed bare? Insulation fall off of any wires?

What are the ohm readings of the coils, stator power coils and trigger coils?

Is the outer flywheel installed properly?

Will make no difference to ignition. Only effects where timing marks are located
Try cranking it with plugs removed,,,if you now have spark its starter RPM problem.

Just got the measurements I need for the Ohms tests on the stator. Red to blue between 4.5-6.2 red stripe to blue stripe 5.4-6.2 red to ground 125-175 red stripe to ground 125-175 anything I missing for that test? Will do it later today and update with the readings. I did test the trigger everything was fine there all of the wires looked in decent condition fly wheel and stator look brand new and all look to be installed correctly.

I Went and did an Ohms test again on the Stator and the Trigger the results are as follows.
Blue stripe to ground 6.14 on 20 KillaOhms Setting
Blue to Ground 5.8 on 20KillaOhms
Red to Ground 20 on 200ohm setting
Red And white 1300 on 200ohm setting
The trigger wires all were steady around 1400 0hms

After the Ohms Test I also threw the book at it and did the following to test for spark. Removed main harness, removed black and yellow wires from switch boxes, put a fresh battery in and jumped the solenoid and still no spark.
