1985 Doral 164

Hey All! Got a line on a one owner (my aunt's sister) 1985 Doral 164 bowrider. Hasn't been ran in 3 yrs. Has a 120 Evinrude V4 with oil injection. Needs stator or stator repair and fuel lines. Has a fish finder. Wondering if any of you could give me your opinion on this boat before I take the drive to look at it. Seller wants $2000 CDN. Comes with trailer and pull over top?? but no covers. I'm in eastern Ontario, Canada. I googled the boat and not too much info.

Went and took a look at this boat yesterday. Pretty good shape for its age. Owner says it's fiberglass with no wood in the construction. Is this true? Having trouble finding info on this boat.

hi there, yes you are correct that there really isnt much on the 164.. as i have been looking my self quite a bit. the answer to your question re wood... yes... there is wood. i have a 82 i/o with a closed deck and found that there is actually quite a bit of wood in the craft. as im the unlucky bugger who purchased a boat with wood rot hidden by an aluminum plate i have been digging into it quite a bit today... found all my stringers and deck in the last 7 feet of the boat is all rotted away... so, with that said. all the lumber in the boat is all 3/4 ply with exception of the engine rails (7.5" x 1.75" solid cross section) and the sides of the side pockets that is 3/8" ply glassed in on 1 side. check VERY carefully around for soft areas and also check the drain holes as they are not sealed from the core wood.. other wise you end up like me doing a job not to much unlike friscoboaters thread......

Don't you think that by now, a year later, he has his answers? Please note the age of threads before you answer them. This clutters up the page and drives current, active threads off the page.
