Looking for info on this motor. I am a potential buyer for one of these and need some questions answered.
1. Is this a forward neutral only motor (spin the motor instead of reverse).
2. Is the throttle on the motor itself?
3. I need it for a Catalina 25 sailboat on a small midwestern lake. I currently have a 7.5 Merc that is in need of repairs that will push the boat faster than it really needs to go. Just making sure the 4 will move the boat in and out of a cove. I don't need it to push the boat all day.
It is a long shaft motor, owner says it measures 22 inches from the hanger to the cavitation plate.

thanks in advance,

Jim

Questions/Answers:

1 - In my book, the 4hp has a lever for neutral/forward, but must be spun for reverse.

2 - Throttle is a swing type lever located just under the flywheel.

3 - Sailboat outboards usually have an additional length beyond the normal 20/22" long shaft range. Whether this is suitable for your craft will need to be your judgement call.
