Group,
I just purchased a 1985 15 hp Johnson. I picked up a manual on e-bay for same. When I received the manual it was for a 1985 9-15 HP Evinrude.
Are the two the same motor, hense the same manual?
thanxs for reply, Harry
Service manuals produced by firms other than the manufacturer generally cover a range of engines or at least a number of engines within a given series as is the case with the 9 and 15 HP. They are close enough in design that what applies to one applies to the other and where differences exist, its spelled out. You will find the same applies to the 40 and 50 HP engines. The power heads have the same displacement and the lower units are the same. No need to publish different manuals for them.
Evinrude and Johnson are one and the same for that vintage and model(s). The only differences were decals and paint.

9.9 and 15 are so close in design that you would never tell the difference, even though there are some. The OEM manual covered both, in one book.
