I've got a 1985 Force 125hp outboard. I was doing a compression check today and I noticed when I hand rotate the flywheel with all the plugs out, there is a hissing sound at a certain point coming from the bottom carburetor. If I rotate it faster, it will make a honking noise as well. I assume this is from the reeds. Are they worn if this is happening? It only happens once per full rotation.

My compression is (PSI)
1-132
2-131
3-130
4-130

The compression sounds good, the hising is the air I believe mine makes the same noise....the honking not to sure about.

because the reeds can stand open up to .010 inches, the "honking" is compressed air blowing past and vibrating the reed petals--just like a saxophone or clarinet. It is normal. A really good engine can play Beethoven.
