Looking for a good qaility older boat and I found a really nice dark blue 85 Horizon 190 with the 5.0L motor that is in immauclate condition from the hull to the seats, at least from first look. I'm Pretty new to boats but like the deep V hull and overall build quality of this boat for my family of 5. Are these good boats? Anything particular I need to look out for? He is asking just over $5K for it. Seems a little on the steep side but I don't mind paying a littl more for something that has really been taken care of. Boat looks very well cared for, floor is solid and motor has been serviced yearly, fresh water only. Also has a bimini top, captain chairs interior with the sundeck, life jackets, anchor, carpets look almost new and comes with trailer (new in 1995). Should I move forward on this model or keep looking for something newer?

Re: 1985 Horizon 190

Four Winns makes great boats, and I wouldn't steer you away from them, but going back 25 years I'm not sure about. $5K seems a really steep for something that old. I own a 2005 Horizon 190, and love it, but I think it'd be better to save up some more money and keep looking. For $10K you should be able to find a really decent boat that's only 10 years old. Especially if you're looking for something to put your family of 5 on, I'd rather spend more and have a newer boat, whether it be Four Winns or something else. Just my opinion.
