1985 johnson 50 hp vro (HELP)

I dont know anything about these outboards, so i will give the best description i can.When you crank the engine it will run ok for a minute then it will just rev up the other day it would not cut off had to unhook the gas line and let it run out. It also spits gas through the top carb not alot its very little nothing out the bottom carb though. Any ideas thanks

Was the motor on a boat and in the water ??? or was it on the driveway on muffs ??
Is this a new motor to you ?? or has it just started doing this ??
Post the model number to help everyone identify it better. It should be on the port side transom bracket.

Thanks for responding. I just got the boat it is a 1985 bass tracker with the 1985 johnson on it. The boat was cranked in a driveway with the muffs, i took it to a guy today to look at it so i cant get the model number up today it had 125 compression on both cylinders.Would still like to hear ideas of what it may be.
