I finally got my boat engine running, but it is running weird. If you push idle all the way forward, it will run, but when you pull back on the arm to shift, it dies.

I did a compression test with throttle plate open. All cylinders show 110lbs.
My Seloc book says reading doesn't matter as long as no cylinder is more than 15 lbs different from the others.

A boat friend says they have to be 140-160 in order to run corrrectly. I can't find any specs in my book that even give any information.

The hose that injects oil into gas from the advanced oil injection broke apart while I was working on it, so don't know if it was leaking and not enough oil got mixed in with the gas before I replaced it.

Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks:confused:

Thanks...

Okay, if 110 lbs is okay, do you know why I can get it to run at fast idle, but when I bring the lever back down to shift into gear it dies? I can only get a few feet in the water.

The gas is from last year, but had Stabil in it. I hate to dump it all out since there is two tank fulls ( about 10 gals each )

I replaced the water seperator.
