hey i had a question about a rebuild kid for a fuel pump, the quicksilver kit comes with everything needed but it appears to have 2 gaskets with 2 check valve nipples on them.... but they are made out of different materials..... it just seems weird theyd make a "double" layer check valve.

I see three gaskets, 6 then 21 then 20,
gasket 6 and 21 look the same gasket 20 looks different .
If gasket 6 and 21 are exactly the same use the gasket with the harder material,i dont know its just a guess, i agree never seem two gaskets together, that makes me think this rebuild kit is for many different carbs.
Lets not overthink this, use the gasket that matchs the best.

20 goes on no matter what, yeah 6 and 21 in the kit appear to be diff materials..... one is like the brownish harder type so i guess just use that cause i dont see why youd have to double up check valves? lol thanks for the reply

Just use both !!-----Put the rubber on the ports as it will seal better.----The brown one gives it better " spring " action.-----See them with both all the time.

its a quicksilver kit btw and yeah ive read a few diff things.... one mechanic said the brown was for ethanol bleded fuel and the rubber option was for E0 only.... dont know the merit to that but i run ethanol free (shell 91) anyways. i will try with both as you said racerone and i can always take one out if theres an issue but if youve seen em with both before i should be alright! the reason i need the kit is my motor freshly rebuilt (everything but the fuel pump) runs like a top but randomly dies like could be 15 minute intervals.... than as its dying i squeeze the bulb and it comes back to life... lol

I just picked up one of those 9.8 models from a dealer.-----They thought it needed reed valve work.-----What I looked for and found was ---#1 broken throttle lever on top of carburetor.---#2 missing o-ring on top of driveshaft.----# 3 Upper crankshaft seal popped out.---# 4 broken impeller on water pump.-------Nothing wrong with the reeds as I suspected.-----Easy fix
