Lookin' real good Thunder!

Have you laid a straight edge accross the stringers to see how bad the STBD one actually is?

Re: 1985 Wellcraft 210 Elite Restoration

Yes, I did. It won't effect the deck mounting. That remains straight and true to the top of the gunwales. It's only off by about 1 degree. My only concern with it is if it will affect the motor mounts. I'm planning to have some custom aluminum brackets made, through-bolted through the stringers with heavy backing plates, in place of the heavy "shelves" with cores of 3 pieces of nailed together 2x10 pine lumber that the motor mounts were originally constructed of. More of an "offshore" style front mount

Decided to go against my perfectionist tendencies and not going to worry about the slight angle, it's almost unmeasurable anyway. Definitely going to buy some Thick epoxy resin with my next US Composites order. It takes a ton of Cabosil to make PB with the Thin stuff. Frustratingly, I ran out of the inexpensive Cabosil from US Composites and had to buy some from West Marine over the weekend... $26 for 2/3rds the quantity I got from US Composites for $7!

Picked up some bulkhead and stringer template material at Costco recently. As luck would have it, they threw in a sectional couch with it.

Man... It's crazy how long this takes when you can't work on it day in and day out. Keep up the good work man! Can't wait to see more progress.

I'm again apologetic about the lack of posts on progress, but not much has been made due to lack of funds. This living paycheck to paycheck nonsense is killing me. However, I was able to make some progress today on restoring the boat's finish. The gelcoat is terribly oxidized, Spent the afternoon wet sanding the boat. The gelcoat is very oxidized. Had to go all the way down to 220 grit, but the original color is now starting to show beautifully.

That's one of the beauty things about restoring an old boat instead of buying a brand new one, you can work on it when you have the money and quit when you don't... the payments on a new boat keep coming regardless.

Do you plan to install the sectional sofa on the boat?

Just keep plugging away at that Welly and keep us updated when you do something to it.

My original $50 offer for that boat still stands.:D

No more wet sanding with 220, went slightly too far in one spot. I'm probably the only one who can find the spot, but, still, I'm annoyed with myself.

On the positive side, the boat's hull is slightly lighter now. Pics to follow soon.

Ok, I'm going to have to knock $5 off of my original offer because of the bunged up paint job.

No one will ever notice it but you, but if they do you can blame it on the factory buil for putting the gel too thin in that spot.

I suspect you guys might enjoy this. I just wetted out the first layer of fiberglass on my son's R2D2 Halloween costume.

Great project, any updates? I know this is an old thread, but its such a good read I decided to join the forum and ask. I'm currently in the process of going all the way on an 85 Elite myself, and really enjoyed the read. Nick
