1985 yamaha 115 hessitation at about 2k rpm

Posting this for my friend. He has a (I think 1985) 115 yammy. He just rebuilt the carbs. The motors idles nice and at WOT will run fine all day long. At around 2 k it has a hesitation. Just trying to get some ideas what to do to fix the problem.

Did he do a sync and link properly, if so may be able richen the idle mixture screw a little to help with the transition to the midrange circuit.

I do not believe he did a sync but I will ask him today. he pullled the carbs over the winter soaked them in a gallon bucket of carb cleaner for a week then cleaned everything out with carb cleaner. Thanks for the advice

A WEEK! I am not a big fan of soaking outboard carbs, it is ok for sterndrives but I have heard that outboard carbs are more porous. When ever I did sterndrive carbs I always painted them afterward have never painted a OB carb never will.
