1985 Yamaha outboard ?

I have a 85 Yamaha 90hp does it charge the battery when it is running? I have 2 batteries one is starting and one is trolling. Some of my accesories run off of the starting battery and I want to make sure that the motor is charging the battery so that it does not die and leave me stuck.

It has a charging system. If you have a tachometer and it works, it usually means that the charging system is working. Another way to test is to attach a voltmeter to the battery and see if the voltage goes up when the motor is revved. Unless you have an isolator connected, it won't charge the trolling motor battery.

It does have a charging system. Willy explained an easy check to be syre it is working. Also do not overload it with a lot of accessories simce it is a small one. Deep cycle batteries are a no-no for charging from it.
