Hi, Today I was using my boat, motor was rebuilt in july 2000, new pistons, always ran very good, so today had 2 kids and myself on boat, motor run 5800 rpms wot, today comming home it was running full rpms, started to miss at high speed so I slowed down, now in 5 mph zone went to give it gas and running like it was not firing on all cylinders, I got boat home on trailer, and had right bank plugs out and motor started, was checking for spark, it seems to have spark on all cylinders, could power pack be bad? any ideas, Thanks for any suggestions!

What is the compression reading on all numbered cylinders?

With all spark plugs removed, do you have spark that will jump a 7/16" gap on all cylinders with a strong blue lightning like flame....... a real SNAP?

You need to run the gamut of checks here to isolate the different systems. Compression check first, ignition system second. If they check out its either fuel or timing, timing check can be part of the ignition if you can get it running at idle properly. You may have a bad high speed sensor coil output or powerpack may be faulty at speed. There are a number of scenarios here that could be going wrong.

I did compression check 120 lbs left bank, 110 lbs right bank, spark left bank blue good, spark right bank inconsistent or none at all! thinking bad power pack on right bank?

Could simply be a pin or socket pushed back somewhat in one of the rubber connectors, or a frayed or broken wire. Check the connector leading from the stator to the pack closely.

If the stator is dripping a sticky substance drown on the timer base and powerhead, replace the stator.

However, switch the powerpacks. If the problem follows the pack, the pack would be faulty.
