I just bought a 1986 120hp bayliner boat with the force engine..I have heard that this engine is a "junk" engine. It currently runs 25mph is there anything I can do ie...Change prop or change carbs to make it have a better hole shot..It seems like it takes a long time to plane out and I believe the prop is a 17pitch..This is my first boat and I apologize I don't know that much about them yet.

Bayliners are not specified by HP. What is the length and model of the B'liner?

My neighbor has a 19ft mid 80's bayliner with a 120 and he pulls 2 tubes with a half a dozen teenagers in the boat, and runs around 40mph without the tubers. Check your motors compression, there's currently a thread on the subject you can follow.

If the compression checks out, see if the boat is full of water/waterlogged foam and wood and grossly overweight. The older bayliners are known for rotting easily.
