Well, I got a 140 looper with a v4 style lower unit and I got it paired with a 1989 Checkmate Predictor which is 16' and weighs in around 900 lbs. I'm looking to get the best possible speed from the engine. I dont want to go with a v6 because I cant afford to buy one and theyre a pain to rebuild. I don't know if its better to go with a v6 lower unit and get a larger pitch prop or keep the v4 lower unit. Also, maybe there are a few things to be learned about these motors that can amp up the power output without destroying the engine. Anything having to do with a performance boost will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
