Watched YouTube videos on how to drop lower unit but all were 20" shafts. Mine is a 25" shaft. I'm guessing a 5" extension kit was installed. Can't fiqure out what bolts to were to drop lower unit. The normal 4 bolts on the bottom do not exist on this outboard. Anyone have a link to a How-To video for an extended shaft? I need to get to my water pump . I can guess at what to unbolt but I hate guess work.

Update ( guesswork): 1. Uncap and unbolt deep nut to anode.2. Unbolt one nut on each side under front/ top of lower unit. 3. Unbolt single nut atop and front/center of lower unit. That's all the bolts that look like they pertain to the job. Am I missing anything?

Update: Found two more bolts hiding indent above the prop. All 6 bolts loosened up easily . Getting dark, now. Will attempt to drop lower unit tomorrow. Hopefully, there are no hidden shift links or such that I have to disconnect first, and unit will lower away w/ no probs.

I recommend putting the motor into neutral and removing the prop. When reinstalling, grease the splines of the drive and shift shafts. Turn the flywheel to mate the crankshaft splines with the driveshaft splines. Tilting the motor all the way up, when reinstalling makes it easier. Never use the nuts to force the gearcase onto the midsection. Wiggle it until it mates.
