1986 200hp Mariner switch boxs wiring

I've got an 1986 200 Mariner, it's got dual switch boxes. I think that what you call them. It's the ones that have the stator wires attachd to it. Can someone tell me if the striped wires go on the outside box, or in the inside?

try this.... couple things "slightly different" but basics are same.. "dotted lines" may/may not be on your motor.. regulator not shown.
