do it this way, it`s a lot easier to understand.rotate the motor untill the intake valve on a cylinder is opened then closes, this is the intake stroke for that cylinder, both valves are closed, adjust the rockers per the manual.,do the next cylinder the same way, etc, etc.

Seloc sucks. Get a real OEM manual. My Seloc is a PITA.

I ordered an OEM one from a seller on eBay and he is being slow as heck shipping it.

But on the listing you can see some pics of what it looks like inside. The illustrations are really clear and the wiring diagrams are in color.

I guess the first question is what are you looking at that is turning counter clock wise?
If the vibration dampner, then you do have a counter rotation engine, if you are looking at the flywheel, then that is normal rotation.
GM and Mercruiser, OMC, and Volvo use the flywheel direction of determining engine rotation direction.

My guess is he is talking about the outdrive. Did they ever build a reverse turn v6? not many reverse turns have been built in the last 15 years. but almost every marine engine made in the last 15 years is a CCW engine. The terminoligy can sure mess up a parts order.

What are you working on? Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC ?????????

Standard rotation is counter clockwise when looking at the flywheel. If you are facing the front of the engine and turning the vibration dampner, then you need to be turning it clockwise.

Also remember that TDC of #1 piston happens twice to the cams single revolution. When attempting to adjust valves you have to have #1 piston at TDC on the COMPRESSION STROKE.

Since you have the valve covers off, turn the engine so the timing mark is at TDC, if you turn the engine forward or backwards neither of the valves on #1 cylinder should move. If they do, turn the crankshaft 1 complete revolution to get to the compression stroke. Then do your valve adjustment.
