1986 40HP mariner idle adjustment

Hello to all,<br />I am doing work for a friend on a 6e9 engine and my manual has not arrived yet. can someone tell me how many turns to back out the idle adjusting screw to begin with? i played with it all day but something is working against me and having a starting point to reference would be helpful. You might do better on the Yamadog board,as this is what you have.Explain and they will know.

you are right...right there under the lower carb was a yamaha symbol. and i think right around 3 turns was good to start her idling.
