after many new parts my buddy calls says hes on the water and boat wont go over 5 mph! ran fine all summer then this. he made my a video and sounded good no missing. god it in and did compression test top cyl 110 middle cyl 80 bottom cyl 110 could this cause the boat only to do 5 mph? put muffs on it in driveway and seems to run fine and revs up good? parts list plugs, wires, coils, stator, power pack, starter, fuel pump(non vro) i think thats it. thanks

As has been said here many times - Running on muffs means nothing without a load on the prop.

None of the parts listed will fix the compression on #2. Gonna have to dive in and see what's up.

Take cylinder head off for inspection.----Could be a bad head gasket.-----I doubt he or you will like what you see when the head is off.-------This sounds expensive to me !

Ask him what he was up to before it went down to 5 mph
Rebore and new rings, if you do it yourself, easy job its not that pricey, a couple of hundred or so. Need to work out what happened, impellor, oil, running lean, pin in the piston to stop ring rotating falling out came out etc

I doubt smoke is caused by " blow by " on the rings of a 2 stroke motor

yep 5mph does seem low, its not like that cylinders on zero
It could also be flooding a cylinder from a malfunctioning float/valve

Just 18 bolts to remove cylinder head to do an inspection.-----That is the next step on this motor -----This sounds like it might need some $$$$ to correct.
