1986 60hp Mercury tilt sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

So the tilt on my outboard works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. When not working if I push the button either way I don't hear the relays click. It works every time I run power direct from the battery to the blue/***** or green/white and ground wires on the relays though. Are my relays bad?

Sounds like a bad connection. Mine did that and I took the control switch off and found the loose wire there. I was a little lucky but a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. Be careful that you don't short out on the good wires. I disconnected my battery and only had my tilt motor hooked up when I was looking...............That "Blue *****" sounds interesting. She just might be a smurf.lol
